Voice Deprecations and Sunsetting

This page lists voices Audeus is deprecating and sunsetting. Each section names the voices, the date they stop, and why. Your documents, highlights, notes, and reading progress stay in your library. Choose another voice before that date so you can keep listening.

2026-10-01: Multilingual OpenAI voices

Some of our multilingual voices come from OpenAI: Alloy, Echo, Fable, Onyx, Nova, and Shimmer. OpenAI is deprecating these multilingual voices. See their text-to-speech deprecations page.

We would like to keep these voices. OpenAI offers no alternative that provides the service and quality we want, so these multilingual voices are being fully removed. They stay available through 2027-01-05 and stop on 2027-01-06.
